Adrienne spoke with ET's Deidre Behar backstage at the Daytime Emmy Awards 2023 over the weekend and addressed his recent response to a social media comment that suggested he has “a great surgeon.”

“I think it was really hard for me to put myself together, being a mom, feeling like I didn't have enough time for myself in the sense of going to the gym… and then seeing a comment like that, I felt like, 'Do I look good enough?' For someone to think this was surgery? That's incredible!'” he exclaimed, laughing. “I thought, 'I've done something right, let someone think I paid someone a lot of money to look like that.'”

In her response to the comment on Instagram, Adrienne wrote, “Wow…this is the biggest compliment. My surgeon is @nyricanmama,” and tagged her mother, Nilda Felix, in the response.

Adrienne believes the comment reflects the self-image issues many women struggle with in modern society.

“It all comes down to the idea that women are very hard on themselves, we beat ourselves up, and to someone else we probably look like a million dollars, or what they dream of, or what they think looks like plastic.” surgery or perfection,” she shared. “What they didn't see was the cellulite behind that photo. But that's simply the reality of aging and genetics. And I can thank my mom for that too.”

Adrienne's enthusiasm has also been bolstered by her role as a mother, after she and her husband, Israel Houghton, welcomed a baby boy, Ever, via surrogate in August 2022.

Reflecting on her life over the past year, Adrienne marveled: “Oh my gosh, it's been really special. A little crazy but super special.”

The singer said your experience with your young son has been “so amazing,” even in the midst of an accidental mishap that left her with a busted lip during the Daytime Emmy Awards.

“He head-butted me this morning,” he revealed. “My lip was busted this morning! But even in those moments, I'm like, 'Oh my God… I have a baby that hits my head and it's still beautiful.'”

“He's starting to bite, so he doesn't know it hurts, (and) I'm like, 'Ow,' and then he starts crying! And I'm like, 'You just bit me!… Why?' “You seem devastated because I won't let you bite me?” she said, laughing. “It's hysterical.”

Since welcoming her son, Adrienne said she feels “amazing” and has been working hard to focus on her health and fitness.

“I've fallen in love with exercise,” he explained. “I hated it for a long time. I think finding the right coach was a big part of that. I think a lot of people think that if they train you really hard and are militant about it, that (works better). No! Actually, it does. that I don't want to come back.”

With her role as a mom and her newfound appreciation for going to the gym, Adrienne is looking forward to next year, explaining, “2024 seems like an amazing life of staying at home and working from home as a mom (sort of year). It's the” A year of routine for me. “I've never had a routine since I was 14 or 15, and the idea of ​​doing the same thing every day sounds like the best thing that could happen to me.”

However, he's also hoping to record some new music, from the comfort of his home studio, sometime next year, hopefully released in 2025, and already has a solid idea of ​​what it'll sound like. as.

“I wouldn't say it will be pop; it could lean a little more towards reggaeton, towards party,” he explained. “I like the positivity of Lizzo's music mixed with Bad Bunny beats, (mixed) with the fun of Becky G. I'm here for it! A little combo.”
