Amy Slaton divorced her husband for this obvious reason

Good. Now we know the answer.

In March, Michael Halterman filed for divorce from Amy Slaton after the couple had an exchange so heated that authorities were called to the scene.

With the paperwork recently completed, Amy finally spoke out in an interview with People magazine, citing mental abuse as the main basis for this split.

And then TLC aired a new episode of 1000-Lb Sisters on Tuesday night… and it all made a lot more sense.

In this installment of the reality series, Amy admitted to being “exhausted” all the time while trying to raise her sons Gage, 3, and Glenn, 17 months.

Yes, she was still married to Michael at the time. But…

“I'm trying to take care of two kids and take care of the house, take care of mom. “It's a lot,” she said through tears as she prepared to hire a babysitter because her husband didn't offer any help.

“I was good before Glenn was born,” Slaton added on air. “Like I have it under control.”

On a February episode of this same show, Amy's sister, Amanda, reminded her that she is married and Michael should really share parenting duties with her.

“He's supposed to be a father too,” Amanda said at the time.

She reiterated this point on the December 18 broadcast of 1000-Lb Sisters.

Michael is “perfectly capable of taking care of these kids so you have a moment,” he told Amy, before the couple called Michael into the room.

“You have to do something because I need help,” Amy told her spouse. “I can not continue like this”.

Amy then emphasized that getting a babysitter meant there would be “someone to take care” of the children so she could go to therapy and overcome her depression.

“I'm not allowed to go anywhere without my kids, that's what he told me,” he explained, much to Amanda's surprise and confusion.

“Michael doesn't want to take care of both kids at the same time when he's alone, so I always have to bring at least one kid,” she said in a confessional.

“I don't know if it's because he doesn't want to watch them alone or because he can't watch them alone and play a video game at the same time.”

From what we can gather, these scenes were filmed a LONG time ago…before the divorce papers were filed.

Luckily, Amy moved on and is now dating someone named Tony Rodgers.

When it comes to her marriage falling apart, the veteran reality star told People several days ago:

“There was no support. There was no love. There was no kindness. There was just mental abuse.

“I got tired of hiding it from people.”
