Just a few months ago, when Britney Spears' famous father, Jamie, suffered a leg amputation, mother Lynne was spending time with her daughter.
Britney and Lynne have had a lot of ups and downs over the years. But this year they have gotten closer than recently.
However, there is currently no indication that Britney plans to fly home for the holidays.
However, Lynne is said to be hoping for a “Christmas miracle” on that front.
TMZ reports that Britney Spears has no specific plans to fly to see her mother for Christmas.
(In this case, we don't just mean “for the holidays.” In addition to Christmas' deadly hold on American culture, regardless of creed, the Spears family adheres to Christianity.)
Lynne expects a last minute change. At least they've discussed the idea of Britney taking a flight to her mother's house in Louisiana.
But so far, Britney has reportedly not purchased tickets or made any other necessary arrangements.
However, there is time to do it. Especially for Britney.
Last minute travel plans can be expensive. But even though her net worth isn't even close to what it probably would have been if so many people hadn't hurt her over the last 15 years…Britney can afford her leeway.
No one seems to be clear about what could stop Britney from flying. That is, as far as anyone knows, there is no new dispute. And if she has her own plans, no one else seems to know them.
(We suggest that this time of year can be difficult. Even if you love your family, spending time with them can be bittersweet if you share a complex history.)
To be clear, Britney and her mother have recently dated. Britney celebrated her birthday earlier this month and her mom stopped by for a sweet visit.
Obviously, whether Britney travels to see Lynne is Britney's decision. This is how adulthood works (if you're not under guardianship).
Lynne is reportedly hoping to see Britney fly out to meet her.
And Lynne even conveyed a similar wish directly to TMZ something recent
Now, it seems TMZ's sources are firm supporters of the idea of Britney flying out to see Lynne.
But obviously that's Britney's decision, and it's not as simple as a question of whether or not she loves her mother.
Leaving your home to stay somewhere else can be a bit exhausting. Britney loves tropical vacations, but that's not what she would be.
If continuing to rebuild this mother-daughter relationship is really in Britney's best interest, sure, we say let's do it.
But it is possible to have a very close bond without spending vacations together. Yes really.
Maybe Britney needs to spend this time alone or ignore the holidays. Or maybe she'll just head to Louisiana this weekend.
Lynne failed Britney in multiple ways. But she did express her support for her daughter and helped raise some specific concerns during her guardianship.
Being the best of two parents is not the same as being a good father. And when the other parent is Jamie Spears, that's not a very high bar. The bar is far below the ground.
Still, we hope Britney and Lynne can enjoy themselves, whether they're together or apart.
