donald trumpThe guest star role on “Home Alone: Lost in New York” wasn't a nod to his talent…it turns out he was demanding the role in exchange for allowing her to film at his hotel.
Director Chris Colon told Business Insider how Trump drew a line in the sand: If you want to film at The Plaza, then put me in your movie.
Columbus said: “Like most places in New York City, you just pay a fee and you can film at that location. We approached the Plaza Hotel, which was owned by Trump at the time, because we wanted to film in the lobby. “We couldn't reconstruct The Plaza on a soundstage.”
Chris said the future president was direct… “Trump said yes. We paid the fee, but he also said, 'The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie.'”
Now here's the thing. It seems that Columbus thought Trump would be a nuisance to the public, but it was quite the opposite… “When we first screened it, the strangest thing happened: People cheered when Trump appeared on screen. So I told my editor “Leave it in the movie. “It's a moment for the audience.” But he did bully his way through the film.”
Perhaps a harbinger of things to come.
