big angThe famous Staten Island mural no longer exists, but the sister of the late “Mob Wives” star vows to find a new home for a piece of art honoring Ang.
Janine Detore tells TMZ … his landlord covered up the larger-than-life tribute to Ang that had been on the side of his store, Country Mouse Boutique, after a dispute over some unpaid bills.
Janine says the turmoil started in September when she underwent testing for some health issues…and doctors ended up telling her she has severe mold allergies.
She says doctors suggested checking her store for mold to see if something in the building was making her sick… so, earlier this month, she paid someone to do just that.
Janine says she notified the owner and received a text message that said, “Just so you know this is going down,” referring to the mural.
We're told tensions have risen…especially since Janine admits she owes $27,000 in back rent. She is convinced that the cover-up of the mural, which Janine says left her granddaughter crying, was retaliation.
Janine tells us she's committed to finding a new location for the mural…and is adamant that the city deserves another one, because Ang did a lot for Staten Island.
We spoke to the owner, who told TMZ a different story … saying he tried to fix a broken boiler at the store last month, but she wouldn't let her contractors in. He says that when he told Janine she could fix it and he would refund her money, she refused.
The landlord claims she is taking advantage of him and not paying rent, adding that he believes she is using the mural as a publicity stunt.
As for why he painted over it…the owner says it's nothing personal, it's just because he's selling the building.
