Usher may have found a new wife with his longtime girlfriend.
As sports and music fans probably know by now, Usher performed at halftime of Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, February 11.
The veteran musician was expected to sing, dance and gyrate a lot on stage, but no one expected to hear that he had gotten married!
Usher has a girlfriend. A girlfriend he takes so seriously that everyone was sure she would be his next wife.
According to new reports, that's exactly what happened a few days before the big game.
The singer and his longtime partner, Jennifer Goicoechea, allegedly obtained a marriage license on February 8, according to court records obtained by TMZ.
Now, the marriage certificate hasn't been filed yet, so they probably haven't made it official yet.
But maybe it was convenient to have a wedding after halftime?
Who is Jenn Goicoechea, his girlfriend?
Usher and Jenn Goicoechea have actually been together for four years at this point.
They welcomed their first child together, Sovereign Bo, in 2020… and are also parents to a son named Sire Castrello, who entered the world in 2021.
(Usher also shares two children, Usher V and Naviyd Ely, with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster. More on that in a moment.)
Goicoechea has largely avoided the spotlight, rarely posing alongside her handsome boyfriend on the red carpet at various premieres and special events.
So who is Jenn Goicoechea?
Goicoechea, a well-known and respected music executive behind the scenes of this industry, was born and raised in Miami.
She studied recording arts at Full Sail University in Winter Park and learned a lot from her mother, who previously served as director of operations at ACT Productions, a Miami-based event and multimedia production company.
Goicoechea eventually used this connection to work her way up to the role of Ciara's assistant.
According to her LinkedIn, Goicoechea worked at ASCAP as director of rhythm and soul starting in January 2014.
After leaving ASCAP, Goicoechea became senior vice president of A&R at Epic Records, a label owned by Sony Music Entertainment.
He often promotes Epic artists on his Instagram, including 21 Lil Harold, DDG, 21 Savage, Beam, and many others.
Jenn and Usher's relationship to date
Goicoechea first shared a photo of her and Usher online in 2016, but they were spotted kissing in 2019, which is when we think their relationship began in earnest.
In September of last year, as cited above, it was revealed that Usher will headline the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, prompting a show of support from Goicoechea, who shared the superstar's announcement video on his Instagram and wrote with him:
In fact, that's where audiences will see Usher and his spectacular body.
If you can look away from it, try to spot Jenn Goicoechea screaming somewhere in the crowd. I have to imagine this lucky lady will be there.
Usher's Wife: Her Two Previous Marriages Revisited
Before Jenn, there were two other women in Usher's life, two women he actually married.
Just before his 30th birthday, Usher married Tameka Foster for the first time.
The couple married in 2007 and remained married for two years. But the romance was not meant to be, as they threw in the towel in 2009.
However, they maintain their friendship to this day thanks to their two children together: Usher “Cinco” V, born in November 2007, and then their second son, Naviyd Ely, born in December 2008.
Usher was also married to another beauty before Jenn.
About four years before Usher hooked up with Jenn, he married his second wife, Grace Harry (née Miguel), in 2015.
His marriage was short-lived as he officially filed for divorce from Grace in December 2018. Although Usher legally ended it in 2018, he listed their breakup in December 2017.
